The 3 Credit Bureaus

While there are many companies that sell credit reports, there are only three credit bureaus, or original sources of information.   These are Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian.   The companies that resell credit reports all get their information from these three bureaus.   While the information from company to company may be presented in a different format - it is the same information that the bureaus have.   You can purchase your credit report with or without scores, and with or without a variety of other services - such as credit monitoring and identity protection.   Fees for these services vary from company to company and you can shop around until you find one you like.
